For the first time ever, I attempted to use Avid. It was confusing, and I didn’t know what the buttons were supposed to do. Michael (the editor of our group) and I took three hours to capture all the footage. But that was mostly because Avid hates us and crashed and we didn’t save. Sigh. Then Michael bitched about the director, Riham. And then he bitched about Harry, the sound guy. The only people he didn’t complain about were his girlfriend and Kristen. I left him in the editing lab at 6pm and ran into my love/hate crush of the moment, Graham Davies. He was leaving the building and I was entering and we both didn’t really stop, so the conversation was mostly made up of “What? I can’t hear you!” He asked me if I was editing, I’m pretty sure I made a hideous face and a grunt as a response. Then he offered to look over the rough cut for me next week when he had time, and wished me a good weekend before he rushed out the door. I love that he’s so accustomed to me, I no longer have to ask for his help. He just offers his services now. So now I am on love mode again. For the past two weeks I have been on hate mode around him. Going as far as walking the long way around a building to avoid him, but that failed anyway because I ended up next to him.
Recap:
I met Graham on Acting Works in August, and he now works on QUT News as a paid camera assistant. He was supposed to do his third year in Television Producing this year, but he dropped out to look for paid work. He’s coming back to uni next year to finish it though. I’ve been taking advantage of his kindness or whatever you want to call it. I call him a pushover. My friends call him whipped. I’ve been making him drive me home, even though he lives in Redland Bay, and I live in Indooroopilly. Driving me home kind of adds half an hour to his one hour trip home. But he has yet to say no to me. I’m still not sure why he does it though. I mean, the first time was because I was stuck at uni with no way to get home. But he kept on driving me home after that, and we’d only known each other for two weeks at that point. I’ve also been known to make him carry my stuff to his car, make him look over my script, and even make him drive my friend home. And I’ve also been physically violent by kicking/punching/slapping him for an insulting comment that he calls comedy. I am a lovely friend.
Also, he is a huge nerd:
